Vacation

Andrew, Micah and I just got back from spending 10 days on the road on our first family vacation. If you know Andrew, you know about his love for driving and exploring. He's always told me the best way to see an area, country or place is to drive through it. That worked when it was just the two of us, but I was a little stressed out about taking Micah w/ us for 7 hr driving days in the car. Andrew planned it well though, and the long driving days had stops where Micah could run around and where we could explore the beautiful Australian countryside. We also invested in a portable DVD player which proved to be invaluable. A bag devoted solely to food and snacks and another bag w/ toys Micah hadn't seen in a while (I hid a bunch so that they were 'new') were also key. We got to see some absolutely gorgeous beaches and breath-taking views of the Indian Ocean crashing against cliffs. Even better, we got to spend time together just the 3 of us. Andrew realized that this was the first time he's been with just Micah for more than 4 consecutive days. Our travel usually means we're visiting friends or family and we LOVE doing that and it's a huge priority for us. But, there's something to be said for the occasional family vacation.
